Weather forecasts by Marconi.
With reference to my letter of the 2nd. September last,
my Directors have replied to my enquiry that they have been in comunica
-tion with the Marconi Company's Directors in London, who state they do
not regard the weather forecasts as coming within, the category of free
service, an opinion which my Directors think is an open question.
In any case however it was considered the P. & 0. Company
was not liable for these charges on the last occasion when the point
was raised in regard to Indian meteorological reports by the Meteorolo❤
gical Department of Simla.
On this occasion I understand The Marconi Company made
no charge for the Service to beging with, and subsequently only a
nominal one and they propose the Hongkong weather service be treated ir
precisely in the same way.
Yours etc..
(8d.) Edbert A. Hewett,
Superintendent.
